Chevron Perth Amboy Asphalt Plant
Project: Pier Removal
Relevant Experience
- Specialty Rigging
- Saw Cutting
- Underwater Demolition
Summary
Chevron Texaco in Perth Amboy, NJ. HVE surgically removed an unused section pier without disrupting plant operations. Sixty-five Pier sections weighing between thirty-five and seventy thousand pounds were removed. The supporting H-Beams were cut at the mud line by our divers. Due to load limits on the remaining active pier all work was done from barges. Throughout this project HVE coordinated with Chevron management. Work was scheduled around daily plant activities including the loading and unloading of ships, with cargos ranging from relatively safe crude oil to extremely volatile liquid naphtha.
Performance History
The Pier was approximately 100’ long by 150’ Wide. HVE has applied its extensive experience with piers and structures of this type and removed the unused pier section quickly, safely and with no disruption to plant activities or the environment.
HVE’s project management team finished the job on time, on budget and with no lost time incidents.
