Colgate Palmolive

Project: Asbestos Abatement and Dismantling

Relevant Experience

Summary

One of the contracts awarded Hudson Valley Environmental by Colgate Palmolive during the decommissioning of the Jersey City, NJ facility involved the asbestos abatement and dismantling of a large power plant and steam distribution network . Included was the management and proper disposal of all waste materials and demolition debris.

The power plant was a structure approximately 150' x 100' x 100' high housing; four boilers each over 70' high, the electrical generators, piping, tanks and associated power plant equipment. Two brick stacks each 250' high were also demolished. In addition to the power plant, HVE dismantled and removed a steam distribution network consisting of transite enclosed piping bridges.

All scrap metal generated during dismantlement was recycled to scrap dealers.

The task was ideally suited for HVE multi-disciplined employees - experienced dismantling/demolition operators licensed for asbestos abatement and having 40hr OSHA 1910.120 training.

Performance History

HVE is proud to have been selected as one of the prime contractors for the remediation, dismantling and relocation of Colgate Palmolive's Jersey City facility.

The power plant was situated in a highly visable location on the Jersey City waterfront across the river from New York City.

With HVE's multi-skilled employees, highly qualified supervision and extensive experience in power plant dismantling, the project was successfully completed on schedule and ahead of budget.
