Summary
The project involved the asbestos abatement, dismantling and demolition of a large smelter plant including steam boilers, generators and associated tanks and piping. The asbestos abatement was done by licensed HVE personnel working in a sealed building under negative air. Materials generated by the dismantling/demolition of the equipment and structure were segregated, sampled and managed for proper disposal or, as with scrap metal, for recycling. All on-site personnel needed background security screening, general employee training (GET) and drug screening.
Performance History
This project was completed on schedule, within budget and with no environmental incidents, accidents or workers injuries.
